Notget, directed by Du Preez & Thornton Jones, translated their award-winning Notget VR music video (part of a bevy of interactive, mixed reality pieces accompanying Björk’s 2015 Vulnicura album) into a film for mainstream viewing channels. Tackling a brooding, bruising narrative of death (of love), healing and transformation, it’s a story of two halves; a claustrophobic fantasia lensed in black and white, followed by a technicolour transcendence as her body mutates into an elation-inducing galaxy of lights.
A triumph of trans-disciplinary creative cohesion, key collaborators include Björk’s long-time creative director James Merry, BATFA award winning cinematographer John Mathieson, South African CGI and visual effects collective Wicked Pixels (led by Gavin Coetzee).
